The 'discovery'  of Cape St Francis by surfers Mike Hyson and Robert August with  Bruce Brown behind the camera, was every surfers’ dream realized. As Kelly Slater says in his interview for this film said of The Endless Summer, “It’s the most important surf movie of all time." In the Birth of the Endless Summer, the circumstantial threads that lead to the making of that film is unpacked here. It's basically the history of modern surfing, surf travel, adventure travel and the making of The Endless Summer all in one film. A very watchable and enjoyable documentary.
